The Practitioners
Bruna Tamai
Pilates Teacher
I help people developing, or rediscovering, a healthy body movement through strengthening, stretching and mobilising the entire body.
The way Pilates system works is through some slow, deliberate, controlled movements where focus, awareness of the breath and how you move, are encouraged.
Yes, Pilates works on strengthening the core, but core is not everything to a healthy, strong body.
I work in a more holistic way where I look at the person as whole, not just a body.
I offer one-to-one session at all levels. Appointments are £45 for one hour.
I also run group classes from the new Studio at Riverside Wellbeing.

Joanne Frazer (she/her)
Counsellor in Training
I’m Jo, a counsellor in training with over 20 years of experience working in care and mental health support. Counselling is something I felt drawn to for a long time, but like many people, taking the step back into study felt daunting. What brought me here was a deep belief in how powerful it is to have a space where you can begin to understand yourself, with someone you trust beside you.
Over the past two decades, I’ve supported adults with learning and physical disabilities, neurodivergence, and mental health challenges. I understand that people don’t always express what they feel in obvious ways, and that being truly listened to can be life-changing, especially for those who’ve spent years feeling different, misunderstood, or like they don’t quite fit.
I’m warm, empathetic, humorous and down-to-earth. I offer counselling that is inclusive, respectful, and rooted in real-life experience, not assumptions. As a queer woman and strong advocate for inclusion, I’m particularly passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, neurodivergent clients, and women experiencing menopause-related changes.
Above all, I want therapy to feel like a place where you can stop performing, feel safe to be yourself, and begin to find your voice again.
Appointments cost £25 as part of our commitment to providing low-cost counselling services.

I have particular experience in working with trauma. This includes childhood abuse, domestic abuse, bereavement and loss, sudden and traumatic death, PTSD, ageing and identity. In addition, I work with both male and female survivors of sexual violence.
I’m clinically supervised and accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy). I have an enhanced DBS certification and full personal indemnity insurance.
I offer counselling for individuals and couples online and by telephone. I offer walk-and-talk counselling in the High Peak.
Booked F2F appointments at Riverside Well Being

I am trained in several counselling approaches, including Transactional Analysis (four years of Advanced Clinical Training), Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), breath work, and creative therapy, which brings together the integration of seven art forms with the spoken word.
My other specialist qualifications include trauma focused therapy, online and telephone counselling, and working with couples.
I also support individuals in the arts industry. Before training as a counsellor, I was a full time artist; working in the community and in the public and private sector. I delivered talks and training on understanding physical, mental, and social health benefits of the arts and arts therapies, exploring the unique ways in which aesthetic experience can inspire care and human thriving through life.
I am an identical twin, with patterns of neurodiversity in my family makeup.

Amy Bates
COUNSELLOR
Hi, I’m Amy – I trained as a counsellor as part of my own recovery from personal crisis. I have been qualified since 2017 and my preferred modality is psychodynamic as I believe that our past impacts our present.
Working from a psychodynamic approach means I may ask challenging questions and we may probe into uncomfortable areas of your past, which you may find difficult, however, I believe the understanding and acceptance of previous experience and behaviours, informs our present. With awareness and knowledge, comes the ability to make change.
“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” Carl Jung
I am passionate in providing a safe, supportive, non-judgemental environment so you will be able to explore the issues that are important to you and work towards becoming your true authentic self.
I have several years’ experience as a grief counsellor at Ashgate Hospice, I can help with all aspects of loss and anticipatory grief and am currently a student in couples therapy work and therefore am able to offer reduced rates for couples in order to gain required hours whilst working towards my qualification.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP) and I practice within their framework and receive regular professional supervision and participate in frequent Continued Professional Development to ensure that I provide the highest level of service.

Clare Savory
SOUND THERAPIST WITH 20+ YEARS EXPERIENCE IN AUDIO AND RADIO – FOUNDER OF FEELING SOUND
My love of sound began at the age of 6 when my parents bought me a red
recorder – I immediately went upstairs to my bedroom and learnt how to play it
in just one hour!
I grew up spending hours in the music room at school, playing with all the
instruments so I could develop my talent and skill in a safe and supportive
space.
It wasn’t just a hobby for me – I’ve since realised that music became my
language during some difficult years as a teenager.
I found that it helped me when I didn’t have the vocabulary to express my
feelings, particularly following loss and bereavement.
My connection to sound deepened through years of professional experience – Ispent over a decade working for the BBC as a producer and reporter before
launching my own podcast production company, as well as being a co-host of
the Slimming World Podcast.
At Feeling Sound, I combine ancient sound practices with modern neuroscience
to help you feel safe, supported and sound again.
My sessions are:
Grounded in science
Welcoming to all genders, ages 14+
Accessible, still and respectful of personal space
Rooted in nature, reflecting life’s natural rhythms
Whether you’re grieving, stressed or just exhausted, you’re welcome here.
This is your time to reset – no guilt, no pressure.
Jan Horvath
INTEGRATIVE COUNSELLOR
Hello, I’m Jan-marc (Yan) – an integrative counsellor based in the Peak District.
I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow and move forward, even when things feel uncertain or stuck. My role is to support you in making sense of what you’re going through and help you find a way ahead that feels right for you.
I work with adults (18+) experiencing a range of challenges, including:
Anxiety, low mood, or feeling stuck
Burnout, stress, and overwhelm – including work-related stress
Low self-esteem, self-doubt, and inner criticism
Relationship or family difficulties
Trauma, emotional abuse, or unresolved past experiences
Life with neurodiversity – navigating the world in your own way
A general sense of feeling lost, low, or unsure how to move forward
My approach is warm, grounded, and down-to-earth. I aim to create a supportive, non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s going on at your own pace. I’ll meet you where you are and draw on a range of approaches – including person-centred therapy, CBT, Transactional Analysis, mindfulness, and solution-focused work – depending on what fits you best.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked for nearly 20 years as a registered mental health nurse (RMN). I’m also a long-time Buddhist practitioner and have been guiding mindfulness and meditation groups for over two decades. These experiences often inform the way I support clients in finding steadiness and resilience during challenging times.
Whether you’re facing a particular issue or simply want to understand yourself more deeply, I’m here to support you.
I offer a free initial phone conversation so we can explore whether working together feels right for you.
Marianne Sharpe
SPORTS MASSAGE THERAPIST & MOVEMENT SPECIALIST
I am a Level 5 qualified Sports Massage Therapist with extensive experience supporting individuals from grassroots participants to elite athletes. My approach is shaped by my own sporting career, where I experienced a serious injury ahead of a major competition. Thanks to specialist treatment, I was able to return to performance at the highest level – a turning point that inspired me to help others stay active, recover well and continue doing what matters to them.
Since qualifying in 2017, I have developed a wide range of techniques that go beyond standard massage, drawing on movement assessment, soft tissue therapy and practical rehabilitation strategies. I work with people from all walks of life: whether you are experiencing restricted movement at work, recovering from injury, or looking to improve physical performance, my focus is the same – supporting you to feel comfortable in your body and confident in your capabilities.
I take a personalised approach to every session, beginning by listening to your goals, assessing your range of movement and understanding how your lifestyle or sport affects your body. My treatments aim to reduce pain, release muscular tension and improve functional movement, while also helping you understand what’s happening beneath the surface and how to maintain progress beyond the treatment room.
Clients often leave sessions feeling more at ease in their body, with improved mobility and a clearer sense of how to move forward toward their goals – whether that’s returning to sport, improving everyday movement, or simply feeling more in control of their physical wellbeing.
Prices start from £50 per hour
